One of the girls then argues that she wasn’t going to do that and her lawyer was going to talk to the school.
Analysis Paragraphs:
Stephen King uses dialogue to describe everyone’s thoughts about Carrie. The dialogue shows that people don’t like Carrie and think she is weird. “Carrie White eats shit.” “They stared, They always stared”. These quotes give examples of what people think of Carrie, and how Carrie sees them show their hatred toward her. This helps the reader fully understand each and every characters emotion and thoughts throughout the scenes.
The author also uses imagery to describe important events that happen to Carrie. The events in the book are described to paint a picture of the event in ones mind. “made an irritated cranking gesture at Carrie.”, “their buttons and rubber, with expression of fierce wretchedness.” These quotes help describe actions and helps paint the words of the book into a colorful picture. This helps the reader picture what is happening in the scene, rather than just reading something that doesn't help paint a picture. For example: a play's script only has dialogue. The set is a visual for the audience to look at and enjoy. In a book, there is no visual other than the words on the page, so Stephen King does a great job in doing so.
